[PRESENTATION] Soil Health and Fertility Management on Cacao Cultivation through Agroecological Practices

As part of its series of training of trainers (TOT) on agroecological practices for environment-friendly and climate resilient cacao cultivation, the Sustainable Farming in Tropical Asian Landscapes (SFITAL) Project conducted a TOT on Soil Health and Fertility Management as Agroecological Practice for Cacao Cultivation last 26-27 June 2024 in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro. Over 30 field extensionists, farmer leaders, and representative from partner academic institutions were trained during this activity.

One of the presentations during the TOT features soild health and fertility management on cacao cultivation through agroecological practices. This was presented by Erwin Albios, SFITAL Philippines’ agroforestry facilitator in Davao de Oro.

Soil health and fertility management on cacao cultivation through agroecological practices

This slide deck features key agroecological practices related to soil health and fertility management on cacao cultivation, such as recycling of organic materials and input reductions, among others. It also provides an overview on the soil biota and functions of the soil. It likewise highlights major contributors to soil fertility decline.
