Lessons learned in the development and implementation of a sustainable cacao roadmap for North Luwu, South Sulawesi, Indonesia

Presented during the Second Planning Workshop for the development of sustainable cacao roadmap for Davao de Oro, Philippines

One of the key objectives of the Sustainable Farming in Tropical Asian Landscapes (SFITAL) Project is to develop roadmaps to scale-up and mainstream inclusive, sustainable, and transparent smallholder commodity value chains. To obtain this goal, the Project is facilitating the creation of a roadmap of sustainable cacao development for Davao de Oro, together with local stakeholders from local government units, concerned national government agencies, academic institutions, and private sector partners. The participatory process of roadmap development entails four workshops to gather inputs from local stakeholders, transform these into strategies, intervention and activities, and refine the roadmap.

To provide local stakeholders in Davao de Oro an example of roadmap strategies and interventions, Laksemi Ni Putu from the SFITAL Indonesia Team shared the case of their development and implementation of a sustainable cacao roadmap for the North Luwu District, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. Her presentation can be accessed below.

This slide deck presents key lessons learned in the development and implementation of a sustainable cacao roadmap in Indonesia.
